I was just watching a video about this five year old boy who likes to dress in dresses and pink. He calls himself "Princess Boy". He is truly a wonderful kid, so cute and has a deep knowledge of understanding and acceptance, the parents of this little boy are also inspirational for their acceptance towards their son. They never tried to make him more of a boy, they just let him be.
Now they are becoming more visible in the media telling their story for the sake of raising awareness and acceptance. I think that in this day and age that is necessary with all the suicides that are sparked from bullying and such. However I find it really hard to accept the fact that they are also exploiting a little child, a child that has yet to grow and develop fully. This should be a child's private experience, not that he shouldn't dress however he wants in public, but he shouldn't be splashed over magazines and news stories. I feel divided on the issue: is it necessary to publicize a child's story to garner change and acceptance? Or can it be seen as an exploitative situation?
